Colorado’s Home Energy Rebate Program

The Colorado Home Energy Rebate Program helps eligible households lower upfront project costs, reduce energy use, improve comfort, and create healthier homes through the following two rebate programs.

The Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR)

Now available for single-family homes and coming soon for small multifamily buildings.

The HEAR rebates are available to households who do not exceed 150% of the area median income, HEAR can help eligible households save up to $14,000 with rebates for qualifying upgrades.

Eligible Upgrades Include:

  • Heat pumps for space heating and cooling
  • Heat pump water heaters
  • Stoves, cooktops, ranges, and ovens
  • Electric panels
  • Insulation
  • Air sealing and ventilation
  • Electric wiring

A registered program contractor must install the upgrades eligible. The rebate will be provided by registered program contractors as an upfront discount at the time of installation.

Ready to get started? Visit the Colorado Home Energy Rebate Program’s webpage to check your eligibility based on your County’s Area Median Income and contract a registered contractor.

The Home Efficiency Rebates (HER)

Launching in early 2026 HER will support whole-home energy efficiency improvements made to manufactured/mobile homes and large multifamily buildings. Rebate amounts will be based on your household income relative to your county’s Area Median Income (AMI) and expected energy savings.

You will need to work with a registered program contractor to confirm which rebates are best for you once the program launches.

Learn more on the Colorado Energy Rebate Program’s website.

Contractors may apply to offer the HEAR or HER rebates by becoming a registered contractor.

Heat Pump Tax Credits – Upfront Discount

Colorado residents who install an eligible heat pump through a registered contractor may receive a portion of the tax credit (at least 33.33%) as a discount at the time of installation.

Contractors must be on the list of registered contractors and pass along the discount to the customer for each tax credit they claim. Learn more and access the registered contractor list on the state’s website.

Federal Tax Credits

As of 2026, most federal tax credits for home energy upgrades are no longer available.

A limited number of tax credits remain available through June 30, 2026:
